About the lab

An analytical lab that sells nothing but the truth about a sample.

Elemental Purity Labs was built around one uncomfortable fact: in research peptides, the certificate of analysis is often the least reliable document in the transaction.

Buyers were making decisions on PDFs with no lab name, no method, no date, and no way to check any of it. Sellers who were doing real testing had no way to prove it, because their honest certificate looked exactly like everyone else's copied one.

We started in 2021 with two HPLC systems in a Carlsbad industrial park and a rule that has not changed since: we do not sell, source, distribute, or hold equity in any peptide supplier. There is no version of our business where a particular result is better for us than another one. That independence is the product. The instruments are just how we deliver it.

Today the lab runs identity, purity, quantitation, and contamination panels for individual researchers, university groups, manufacturers, and distributors, and publishes every certificate at a permanent address that anyone can check against the document in their hand.

How we operate

Four commitments that shape every certificate.

These are not aspirations posted on a wall. Each one changes something concrete about how a sample moves through the building.

Independence is structural, not stated

No supplier relationships, no referral fees, no white-labelled results issued under someone else's name. Testing revenue is the only revenue.

Every result is traceable to a method

Certificates carry the method code, instrument, column chemistry, and analyst initials. A number with no method behind it is not a result.

Anomalies get re-run before they get reported

Unexpected peaks, poor resolution, or a mass that does not fit are re-injected and, if needed, re-prepared from the original vial before anything is written.

The client controls publication, never content

You decide whether a certificate is public. You cannot decide what it says, and neither can we once it is signed.

Instrumentation

What is on the bench

Method codes on your certificate map to the specific instrument that produced the data.

Liquid chromatography

Three UHPLC systems with diode-array detection, running C18 and C4 chemistries for peptides from 500 Da to 30 kDa.

EPL-101 · EPL-103

Mass spectrometry

ESI-TOF for intact mass and adduct assignment, with a triple quadrupole for targeted impurity quantitation.

EPL-102

Elemental and volatile

ICP-MS for trace metals and catalyst residues, headspace GC for solvents left behind by synthesis and lyophilization.

EPL-203 · EPL-204

Microbiology suite

Separate ISO Class 7 room for LAL endotoxin testing and sterility work, with its own gowning protocol and airflow.

EPL-201 · EPL-202

Sample custody

Barcoded intake, −20 °C and −80 °C storage with continuous monitoring, and a 90-day retention window on every submission.

All methods

Data systems

Chromatography data system with audit trails, feeding a LIMS that publishes certificates and locks them at signature.

Quality system

Where we stand on accreditation

Our quality management system is built to ISO/IEC 17025, and methods EPL-101 through EPL-104 are in the accreditation process. We state this plainly rather than implying blanket coverage, because "ISO-compliant" is a phrase that has been worn smooth by overuse in this industry.

Each certificate reports the accreditation status of the specific method used, as of the date of issue. Method validation records, control charts, and proficiency testing results are available to clients under a confidentiality agreement.

Elemental Purity Labs does not perform clinical diagnostics and is not a CLIA-certified laboratory. Results describe submitted material only and are not a determination of safety or fitness for human use.
